Chung Ha has officially comeback with her newest title track “Rollercoaster” for her second EP entitled “Offset” of January 2018.

 

This  is a playful vibrant electronic dance song and features bright neon colours and surrealistic spacey projections. The themes flow well together throughout the different sets and the high contrast lighting.

The music video reflects the theme of the track. The ups and downs of a rollercoaster in relation to feelings of love. The lyrics are easy to pick up on, entailing expressing her feelings towards a man she loves. feelings moving too fast, as if on a rollercoaster.

The chimes at the beginning of the song are deep and full sounding, fluidly moving into the lyrics I remember uh huh. catchy hooks throughout this well-configured track. It’s an enjoyable listen and for me, this song hasn’t gotten old all month and I foresee myself looking back on this as one of my favourite ChungHa songs.

The chorus itself is effectively catchy an shows off Chung Ha’s vocal range, in her falsetto, after “Rollercoaster” I am definitely jamming to this song! I feel like I am much more of a fan of this song that I was on her debut track “Why don’t you know” I felt the chorus was slightly too high pitched for my liking. This track, however, is falsetto done right. I can tell Chung ha has been working hard on her vocal game!

The music video itself is well produced and even though not the highest budget Chung Ha shines beautifully and if she keeps going in this track and style I will be a continued fan for sure. I love the neon theme throughout the video and that it gives off a slight summery vibe which is much needed during the month of January with all this cold!

A few days after hearing it is now on a repeat loop for me! This song is fantastic! the chorus is just so simple but so easily gets stuck in your head! so far this is the standout song from Chung Ha and I can now call myself a fan of this beautiful dancing Queen. Her talents have always been for dancing, but as she continues to improve her vocal tone and range she will get better and better as a performer, meaning I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the remainder of 2018!!!!!
