Entertainment company JYP have finally announced the debut of their newest girl group “ITZY”! Consisting of five members who have appeared on JYP’s previous survival shows “Sixteen” and “Stray Kids”. The teaser prologue can be seen below!
It seems as though the girls will be going for the “girl crush” concept, which is perfect as it is something that their sister group TWICE, just doesn’t fit. So to have these girls own the concept and be a contrast group for those JYP fans who may not like the cutesy concept that TWICE often portrays will be perfect for, a wise choice from JYP!
Member Chaeryong is the sister of I*ZONE”s Chaeyeong, and is immediately one of my biases, alongside Ryujin. Both sisters also appeared on the survival show “Sixteen” which eventually made the global girl group and JYP’s top group “TWICE”, now known as the nations girl group.
Member Ryujin appeared initially in one of BTS’s music videos for Love Yourself, within JHopes and Jimin’s story seen below!
The girls of “ITZY” also all appeared on JYPs “Stray Kids:” survival show which created renowned boy group “Stray Kids” on which they performed too Neon Jungles “Trouble” in an amazing performance. I remember being so hyped about these girls in this performance, and to see them now debuting as a five member group, still feel they shoulda debuted with all 7 girls from this performance though is unreal!
If these girls aren’t made for success Id be surprised if they don’t succeed! They do remind me of a more current and trendy Miss A. I hope however, they get the recognition they deserve and are not treated as a second rate girl group to TWICE like Miss A were before they disbanded! There is too much talent and potential to waste here!
These amazing girls of “ITZY” are set to drop their debut single “IT’z Different” sometime early February! We will have more updates for you when more is announced, such as a music video teaser, and medley teaser right here for you on Woman of Song where women are celebrated in Music!
